Definition and applications of Stilnox

Stilnox is a sleep aid used in the short-term treatment of various forms of severe insomnia, particularly difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep and waking up early in the morning, in patients aged 18 and over.

What precautions should be taken before you buy stilnox online?

Stilnox is not intended for long-term use. The duration of treatment with Stilnox should be as short as possible, as the risk of dependence increases with the duration of treatment.

Stilnox must not be taken in the following cases:

Sleep apnea syndrome (disorders of respiratory regulation with nocturnal apnoea), severe respiratory insufficiency, pronounced muscle fatigue (myasthenia gravis), severe hepatic insufficiency (severe liver dysfunction), allergy to a substance contained in Stilnox, lactose intolerance.

You should not use Stilnox if you have ever sleepwalked after taking Stilnox or had similar unusual behavior and engaged in activities when you were not fully awake (e.g. driving, having food, while on phone or during sex).

When is caution needed when taking Stilnox?

Although not chemically related to benzodiazepines, Stilnox’s mechanism of action is very similar to that of these substances. Therefore, please refer to the following before you buy stilnox online this time:

Dependency risk

As with all sleeping pills, taking Stilnox can lead to addiction. The risk of developing dependence is increased with prolonged use of Stilnox and in people who have a history of psychiatric disorders, alcohol dependence or drug addiction. Withdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, difficulty concentrating, headaches and sweating can occur if you abruptly stop taking the medication. These signs generally disappear after two to three weeks.

In order to keep the risk of dependency as small as possible, the following recommendations should be observed:

• Only take Stilnox if prescribed by a doctor (never on the advice of a third party!) and never give it to another person.
• Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Tell your doctor if you want to stop taking the medication.
• Longer-term use (generally longer than 4 weeks) may only take place under close medical supervision.

Treatment of elderly people with Stilnox requires close monitoring by their doctor.

Certain diseases (respiratory, hepatic, renal insufficiency) require an adjustment of the dose. Such diseases can increase the effects and also the side effects of this drug.

Children and adolescents: The preparation should not be given to children under the age of 18, as there is only limited clinical experience in this age group.

This medication may make it difficult for the patient to react, drive, or operate machinery should be made aware of the possible risk of drowsiness. To avoid this risk, a full night’s sleep (7-8 hours) is recommended.

Other tranquilizers such as antidepressants, sedatives, other sleeping pills, medicines for epilepsy and painkillers (eg opiates) can significantly increase the effects of Stilnox. If you suffer from depression or any other behavioral disorder, you should not take Stilnox without your doctor’s express consent.

Risk of drowsiness

Taking Stilnox can make you feel drowsy and unconscious, which can lead to falls and serious injuries.
This medicine can hinder the ability to react, to drive and to use various tools and machine properly! The undesirable effects can be increased by the intake of alcohol.

Taking Stilnox and opioids at the same time can result in sedation or shortness of breath, up to and including coma and death. It is therefore important that you recognize any signs or symptoms of shortness of breath or sedation and then contact your doctor or nurse immediately.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you

• Suffer from other diseases
• have allergies,
• suffer from long QT syndrome,
• have ever had a mental disorder or if you have ever abused or been dependent on alcohol or drugs
• have ever sleepwalked or engaged in similar unusual behavior involving activities while not fully awake (e.g. driving, eating, using the phone or having sex) after taking Stilnox; or
• take other medicines (including those you bought yourself!) or use them externally.

Can Stilnox be taken during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, you must contact your doctor and do not take Stilnox.

Breast-feeding: Do not take Stilnox if you are breast-feeding as small amounts of zolpidem are excreted in breast milk.

How do you use Stilnox?

Follow your doctor’s instructions. The usual dose is one 10 mg tablet in the evening just before bed or when you are already in bed.

Never take more than 1 tablet per night.

As a rule, you should always take the smallest effective dose and for as short a time as possible. Stilnox should not be used long term as the risk of developing dependence increases with the duration of treatment. If you are over 65 years old, your doctor will generally prescribe half a tablet to start with. Do not exceed the dose of 10 mg per day and take them before bed time

What side effects can Stilnox have?

Side effects depend on the dose taken and individual sensitivity, especially in the elderly.

The side effects are most common in the hour after taking Stilnox, when you are not lying down and do not fall asleep straight away (see “How to use Stilnox?”).

Common (affects ranges from 1 – 10 users in 100)

hallucinations, agitation, nightmares, depression, daily sleepiness, tiredness, headache, dizziness, worsening of sleep disorders, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, back pain, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, memory problems; these disorders are most common when you are awake, but the drug is still effective. You may not subsequently be able to recall the events that occurred during this waking period.

Uncommon (affects ranges from 1 – 10 users in 1000)

Confusion, irritability, nervousness, aggressiveness, sleepwalking, euphoric mood, pins and needles, shaking (tremor), disturbance in attention, speech disturbances, changes in appetite, joint and muscle pain, seizures, neck pain, blurred vision and double vision, skin rashes, muscle weakness.

Rare (affects ranges from 1 -10 users in 10,000)

Changes in libido, loss of alertness, gait disturbances, liver dysfunction, jaundice, liver damage or inflammation, urticaria, falls (especially in the elderly or in patients who have not followed the recommended dose).

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10k people)

Deception, dependence, visual disturbances, respiratory depression.

• Tantrums, inappropriate behavior. Sleepwalking and similar unusual behaviors such as engaging in activities (such as driving, eating, using the phone, or having sex) while you are not fully awake, which can result in serious injury and occasionally death.
• Delirium (a sudden and severe change in mental status that makes a person appear confused or disoriented).
